I have a 4" preform that is going in the machine soon.
I only found one piece that was this good color. I should of looked harder.
It comes from the opalite mine that is by the Gary green jasper at mcdermitt. The mine is
An old mercury mine so it may be full of mercury?

Nice! I hope our spheres turn out that nice. I just finished the Nephi pet wood from palmwood13,(I'll post in the sphere section) I have one preform going from Texas Springs(Jasper), and one ready from our trip up to graveyard point.

That was the first piece I found when we first got to the opalite mine. I have preformed that green mossy looking agate you found. It's going to make a cool sphere. I need to find time to get some of the preforms ground. Now I am sidetracked with a piece of Mary Ellen jasper that a friend sold me Saturday. I went to a person that was selling rocks Sunday and came back with a 20lb yellow cat petrified wood, also got 4 big septarians. Both will make 5" spheres.

I've seen the yellow cat before should turn out nice, the Mary Ellen I'm not familiar with please post when finished, I'm also working the green from graveyard, I think I posted a piece in the ID section once and it was identified as Horse Canyon Jasper. I think there going to be real cool looking.

A while ago i saw someone at a local rock club show selling pink opal that she said was colored by cinnabar (HgS).  She laughingly told me that opal was really tough and would not let go of the mercury.  Mercury is highly toxic and i would not recommend working anything with it.
