Made a trip to McDermit first week of June with Jhon P, had a great time and picked up some nice sphere material. If you get a chance go Rockhounding with Jhon, he's fun to hang out with and a hard core rockhound, my kind a guy.
He didn't even get pissed when I got us stuck for five hours, he was prepared with a handyman jack and tow strap etc.
We made it through the first river, but the second one got us, the pictures don't show water as we had to damn the river up stream that was over flowing from spring run off, it was still muck and rocks.
Half the fun is the hunt!!!!

Looks like a super pretty area, absolutely beautiful, but how did you get that vehicle out again with just a jack and tow strap? It looked a little more off-road than I would enjoy, personally.

Jack up one corner and did out the mud and fill in with rock than do the next corner. I drove out, jay almost drove out but didn't quit make it. I unloaded all
Of my rock, I think that helped. Dalton hiked out and got a ride to town and brought back help. It took my truck and our rescuer hooked in tandem to get jay pulled out! It was all part of the adventures.
Jay and Cindy was great fun to hang out with, up early and collecting all day! Here is a picture of the back of my truck when I was done.

Those aren't rocks. Those are so big they are practically boulders! Congrats on having a successful trip and getting out after!

Big rocks make big spheres!

What road were you on that is under water? I thought I knew all of the roads pretty good but I do not recognize the spot you show......

This is past the reservation, past Devils Gate, the run off had flooded over and down the road, just before the third time you cross the river. Obviously I thought it was going to be riverbed.
