Title: Uses for Covington Gem Cutter
Post by: John Robinson on August 11, 2017, 04:07:07 PM
I have this old Covington but I have a fairly new dremel drill press so I was thinking about getting rid of the Covington unless it can be used for something besides drilling holes. It has a monster of a motor on it compared to a dremel, so I was wondering if a person could put a router bit on it to cut/clean up cabs or if it could be converted to something else or had some neat attachments that could be added on? I'd hang on to it for a while.  See how the Dremel works out for you.

I have the Dremel drill press and it is not stabile enough it has some movement in it. A friend that drills a lot of stones tried one also and was unhappy with the results. He bought a small bench top drill
Press and uses it. So I agree hang on to it to see if you like the dremel.

Thanks I have no need to get rid of it, I just figured to pass it on to someone that needed such a thing

I saw that Covington has a set of sintered core bits for that machine. Can those bits be used to cut round cabs?
