Took a short drive over to McMinnville, Oregon. My place in Yamhill was listed as 99% Eclipse but I wanted to see the Whole Thing. Incredible is not enough to say about it. When it went from 99% to 100 % eclipse it was mind blowing. After removing the eclipse glasses you could see the moon completely blocking the sun and the image was unreal to say the least. Not going to post a crappy picture as there will thousands of great pictures posted and on the news. No huge crowds, only minor traffic jams out here in the stix. Enjoyed the peace. neal

The morning fog dimmed briefly here on the SoCal coast. We were nowhere near totality of course, but our usual a.m. fog did a good job of hiding any details of the eclipse. Looks like you had a ringside seat - glad you weren't fogged-in.

Madras got its crowd and post-eclipse traffic jam (still bumper to bumper south to Redmond and north quite a ways!) We hiked to the top of a hill behind my house and watched it with friends. A friend of a friend packed a very nice telescope up, with all the necessary filters, so we had a good time looking at sun spots. Brought a half dozen high school kids who hollered appropriately when one horizon suddenly went dark and the shadow swept over us! Had an excellent 'sunset' view all the way around.
Was spectacular, also truly glad to have been able to see it.

saw the eclipse through the haze about 2:30pm. looking through a welders shield brought out better details. grand kids loved it.

Any view was a good view, unforgettable. We were lucky. Bought crap eclipse glasses from Amazon. Luckily found some legit glasses on Craigslist for whole family. We watched the whole eclipse with a small group of people in McMinnville. Almost total quiet best five minutes. Not one word during totality which made it more awesome. Watching the corona during totality with no glasses was incredible. All 53 seconds of it.
The traffic jam outside is about 20 miles of crawling. This is 6 hours after the eclipse. Much better than the Madras Crawl.... Everyone taking roads back towards Portland to get somewhere. We left early and knew the roads so we were home in 45 minutes including a rest stop and fresh coffee. If only my lottery tickets were so lucky.

Here at the farm we had 99.97%...
Not the same as in 79? when I got totality but this time I got the shimmer... Hard to describe but during the 30 seconds when it went darkest, the trees and the eclipse took on a shimmering state that left me breathless.
Not sure whats up with that? Great time for us here!

They talked about the shimmering and some included a snake something or another. I know what you are describing.
We started watching from our deck when one of the neighbors came over and asked us to join them in the middle of the cul-de-sac. We took our chairs, glasses and drinks and went out. Wow is the best word to describe it. So glad we got to see it.

Stepped out of work yesterday and watched it with my coworkers. We had about 60% coverage here in the Phoenix area. I took pictures with my Phone, and also had one of those boxes created too for viewing the eclipse. A coworker's box was better though and we got much better viewing from his box.
