Are the Black areas more fragile than the normal jasper you collect?  The only reference I have for Black in the Jasper is stone canyon and when I found the black it tended to be almost like the Jasper Baked too long and carbonized is the wrong term but that is the best way to describe it.  If it reacts like normal Jasper and you have the black that will make some great stones.

             the black on this rock is a hard 7,
it is fused by layers of Quartz sandwich it in,some thing like the stone canyon pieces i've posted,only black

but have yet to acquire all the proper equip.

    Looks to be more of the Ocean Breeze Jasper. This is a plutonic jasper with a lot of manganese in it which is the black material. Like most jaspers this material comes in all grades. The heavier the rock the more solid it is. Some of it does undercut but it all polishes with very little effort. The more quartz in the slab the better it appears to work for cabbing.

    Once I get my new shop completed I will be selling Ocean Breeze Jasper. I have a couple tons stashed away in many colors and patterns. I started hanging insulation this morning and hope to finish my shop in the next month and then set up for cutting. I am not cutting or selling until my new shop is finished, sorry. You can contact Jim's Rocks on etsy if you want this material now. He has the rights to this material but a lot of people have been sneaking into his claim. There is also some material that appears to come from nearby??? And there was some mined years ago before Jim got rights to the material so other people do have some.

Similar to your "Breeze" jasper...
maybe 800 -1000 miles away from your friends claim
at any rate it is a smooth  fracture free
and I'm sure it would polish up killer
