After spending the night in Wendover we set out for Gold Hill! It’s in the middle of No Where. Truly majestic in its desolence! One of many abandoned mine shafts.

we spent 2 hours standing on a 5 gallon bucket prying this baby out of the ceiling. Any help with identifying would be welcomed (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171003/30c7e3dd803fa3846060b888a03c0b8b.jpg)

Next: Spending the better part of the day at Gold Hill we decided to set off into the yonder in search of the ever so popular but supposedly only on private property Bertrandite! You Will Not encounter any Rockhounding books or Rockhounders giving you any info SO... after hours of reading geological studies, combing over old survey maps and studying public BLM maps we ended up here!

After some searching and finding a destination it started to get chilly and we were exhausted.

We hunkered down after a long day in the Jeep. We woke to 35degree temps.  This is some of what was collected:

I am new to rockhounding. My husband doesn't share my interest but he takes me to the sites I want to visit. Usually it is a site that has buckets of soil to sift through. I don't think he will ever agree to go out to some site that is out of the way like the site you chose. I guess I will have to find me a more daring partner. Love the picture of all the rocks. Can you identify them for me?

beryl is not too uncommon in pegmatites in that area so based entirely on location and crystal habit I think that it may very well be Beryl. looks like there are some broken crystals try a hardness test on  them.

Awesome post ladies:  One of the best trip reports I have seen.  It's not always about the haul, the the experience.   :Worthy:
