Shoot.   I would like to facet some as well, just to learn.   How about a long commute, and y'all come here and we can all learn.   :toothy10:

I was a member of a faceting club in west seattle for many years but most of those folks have passed on. If you are really serious you could come up to my place on Whidbey for a long day to get taught the fundamentals. There are excellent step by step books that show how to cut virtually all facet designs by the meetpoint method which is very straight forward. Beware : The machine has a huge amount to do with your enjoyment and continued participation in faceting. There are Puget sound faceting groups which you can try to find on the net. One important thing is that neck arthritis can make faceting a horror story , very painful with all the repetitive motions of checking the stone but otherwise if you can sit upright in a chair for a long time ( I know you have a bad back history) you should be fine otherwise.

i have a pinched nerve in my lower neck/shoulders now creating horrible pains up and down my left arm.
Maybe i will pass in the faceting now until i figure out what the frick is wrong in my upper spine.
