Rules:
1) Cab must be made by you.
2) Cab must be made within the time period of this contest. Contest begins on the first of the month and ends on 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the month. NO pulling old cabs from your storage baskets!
3) As long as the basic shape is considered a cab it's golden. You can enter intarsias and carved top cabs such as cameos etc. After all, this is the OUTRAGEOUS cab contest! We love free form cabs! Pull out the stops and give us the best you have!
4) One entry per person please!
5) Please show photos of your slabs and preforms if you can so we can see your thought process and how you did things.
6) No finished jewelry pieces. Just the cab.
7) Cab sets are OK.
8) This is only for bragging rights and your cabochon photo posted up top in the forums unless someone posts a lapidary related prize and wants to ship it to the winner of the contest.

I went to a small show yesterday put on by a local club and picked up a slab of unknown white plume agate for 0.25 cents!
Lets start this thing.....
Two sided, double taper on the girdle, Large, 69x30x7 mm, very low domes.
Is it a pterodactyl? A screaming ghost? A jellyfish? I will let you decide.

I’m going very “old school” this month. I’ve had his slab of Rocky Butte picture jasper kicking around since I lived in Idaho. When I looked at it the other day I realized the “picture” looked a lot like sunset in the Owyhees where I collected frequently years ago. So for old time’s sake I decided to use it for this month’s competition.
Statistics: Weighs just under 60 ct., measures approx. 34 x 35 x 6 mm. deep, hand-polished front and back.

Or material from Ty Valley rd. So. of Lebanon. Corner of Rock hill & Ty valley top of hill on right. in the 60s it was house free, not now. Will known material for the white feather like plumes.

An outrageous cab for the minimalist. I purchased a parcel of stabilised turquoise from Phil H and have slowly been cabbing it up. Usually I like to cut my turquoise in standard shapes. However as I was putting a flat on the rough to start off, I liked it so much as it was that I just shallow domed the nugget and give is a polish. So here is my minimalist cab. Nothing in the way of progress shots sorry, it happened very quickly.
The middle nugget is the one I completed.

Better late than never! Been busy with rockhounding and golf so not a lot of shop time.
Picked this up Friday in the Henry Mtn. coprolite area, I was looking for yellow and black in color (they are hard to find), I usually make sure they are not cracked by whacking with my rock hammer, this pattern was inside one that was cracked!

every time i see that slab, all i see is a firey phoenix in it.
