Went out to Fallon wonderstone. I wish I had got some better color, brick red and yellow.
But it is good solid hard rock and good patterns. And big pieces for spheres
-
The back of the truck, I had to get help to load some of the pieces
-
Hi Jhon P that is some absolutely fantastic stone can only imagine one of your spheres in that stone .

Now that's a haul!!!! Heat em up to as high as a turkey roaster full of kitty litter will go. They change a little in ability to shine and color improves.
-
Wow. Must be nice to be able to get good rough by the truckload like that.
Makes my little 28 lb haul from our club field trip look puny.

It was a lot of work. Pulled a lot of pieces out of the wall that wasn’t worth taking home. Two pieces I had to break up with a sledge. The biggest was about 500lb. Paul was in there helping, he took pieces that he could polish on side for display.
Here is a end cut from the piece I have in the saw. I should get a 4 1/2” cube, the bigger pieces I could cut a 12” or bigger cube but I am not set up to do any spheres bigger than maybe 9”

Really, only 9 inches....... nice job, pretty rock
-
Those should come out real nice with the color sequence Jhon. A 9 inch sphere would be impressive indeed. At 2.5 g/cc, that baby would weigh in at about 19 pounds...that is one heck of a bowling ball!

I have a 7” oynx that weighs 20lbs so a 9” will weigh a lot more I would think
