Thought I would start a thread showing some of the fun variations of Olympic Poppy Jasper that I have found over the years.. My good camera was destroyed by an unrepentant house guest this summer, but I've got a cheap digital, and should be able to get a pic or two tomorrow of this years latest haul.

A new classic for sure. Put some away folks this year before it is gone.
-
sure has a lot going on in this beautifull stone :headbang:
-
Oh my goodness!!! Is that second one with the black and orange still around, and available?!?!?!!!!! It's my black and oranges!!!!!
-
These are all from my Stash box. :) NFS.
I'll keep an eye out for something in that range and post it up for sale if it comes along.
-
Woohoo! Most outstanding. :glasses9: I do understand having a personal stash box. I think mine must be the size of a small car..........
-
I have always been partial to Poppy Jaspers:) Love everyone of them:)

Me too!

I love the last batch that I bought from you Joshua.
-
Thanks for the kind words!
Liz- you may very well have been the last person to ever get any of this material from my claim. Shutting down and moving away. :sad5:
I'll miss digging, and seeing the amazing patterns come to light in this material.
-
So did you move away? Did you let your claim expire? Anymore of that Popoy Jasper come to market or is that all until someone else re-opens the claim? Curious as that is some nice looking material. Shame to not have some more out of the ground and getting around.
-
The claim is closed and I moved away. There is a small chance that I will mine a few pounds this year, but I don't see the material being commercially available again in the near future. I miss it too!

Is this "Olympic" as in Olympic Penninsula in Washington?
-
Why don't you lease the claim and continue to get something out of it, while keeping the flow going. It would be a shame to loose that beautiful stone, especially with such a nice variety.
-
my brother has a house in forks, he has been hitting rialto beach here and there finding cobbles.
many nice pieces too!
-
Rialto is a good spot for it... in the national park, but ymmv...

Not to give you a dilemma, but are you going to enjoy the rough or start to cut it. There is some very interesting stones in what you have shown us.

That black material is something else for sure. Thanks sharing these.
-
Very nice Oly poppy jasper, do you have any with the green orbs?
-
We all love the green dot rough but it is very rare, in many years I have only seen three very small pieces.
-
So different yet all are really nice.

Hi Joshua, I'm new to the forum and not from your side of the country so we never get any of this back here in N.C. But last year a friend in Idaho got ahold of about 100 pounds of "poppy Jasper" from a guy in California who inherited it from his father. I wasn't sure what it was until I saw your pics. I got a thirty pound piece of green with a wide swatch of poppies that looks almost exactly like your pics. Thanks for posting them, would love to have more! Karen
