Title: Embroidery with embedded cabochons
Post by: Ryaly2dogs on January 03, 2019, 12:11:50 PM
Happy New Year All:  Sharing a gift my sister made for me from 3 cabochons I sent her.  Over the years she has mastered calligraphy, spinning/weaving, stitching and embroidery and I am just over the moon over what she made for me using my own cabs.   It now hangs on my bedroom wall.  It is a fairly complex embroidery (I think I got the term right) in terms of colors and textures and includes a stitched up thread "bezel" to accept each cab!  The cabs include a banded agate, a lacey jasper, and a quartz with marcasite.  See attached, I have never previously seen anything like this so wanted to share with you all.

Cheers.

Unique I think and extremely thoughtful. It makes one wonder how your artistic preferences reflect your personality differences. My wife and I work on  art projects  together as well and it is a shame it is not more common.Very nice.

I thinks it's beautiful!  The amount of time she must have put into the pattern, picking out colors and then actually stitching it had to be considerable.  Your cabs make the whole thing come together in a wonderful way.

Just wonderful. I'd treasure something like that, too.

Very unique and gorgeous!  She did an awesome job capturing those cabs with the embroidery threads.  Truly outstanding!   :icon_sunny:
