Title: who makes the best sintered laps
Post by: Lucinator on July 29, 2019, 12:09:36 PM
My old crystalite laps are wearing out and I'm looking at getting some sintered laps.  Does anybody know who generally makes the best sintered laps as if this moment?

Welcome to the forum!  Are you cabbing or faceting with them?

Faceting.

I doubt anyone can answer that.  Once you have bought one you are unlikely to ever need to replace it.  That makes comparison impossible.

I can't say whether they're the best or not, but Thomas Adamas makes sintered laps specifically for faceting.

Be aware that sintered laps are expensive, but then again you will most likely never have to buy another one.

A sintered FLAT lap? That doesn't make much sense since sintered diamond tools tend to wear unevenly over time. And this would be especially bad for faceting. For cabbing not as much of an issue though.
