I am not really sure just how dedicated they were to rockhounding on this day. They got skunked on rocks but seemed to have a great time any way. Very bad conditions with some waves making it into the forest which caused a lot of scampering and a little holding on for dear life. " Don't turn your back on the waves " the sign says and they did not. A wonderful jumbled sea full of logs getting bashed about and large numbers of dead sea birds which the bird expert , my daughter , attributed to starvation. This is not unusual in a place where birds range to over 50 miles searching for available fish . Winter is tough on birds here on the Washington coast.
