I was working on an intarsia for my sister's birthday and a couple other lapidary projects. I did have time to start 2 cabs. 1st broke on a hidden fracture (Superior agate) and this Bouquet from the Singleton Ranch. This was going to just be an oval around the central plumes but as I sat in front on the grinder this shape came to mind and looked like it would work.

Beautiful , where is the rough from?

Singleton Ranch is a ranch that is about 18 miles South of Marfa in West Texas. Ranch sold this last year and is now divided into 3 parts each absorbed by neighboring ranches that don't allow collecting. So sad, but I did collect there a lot, I'll never run out of material for sure and whoever comes to my house when I kick will be happy indeed!

That’s a nice cut Steve. Beautiful stone!
I cut my first Willow Creek Jasper today. I bought a couple of slabs off Etsy a while back...Not as interesting as Steve’s piece, but I like the soft colours and patters...and I really like the white parts..nice clean look to it.
Cheers,
Mike

Try that again.

I love the shape Mike, I know that the image is stretched but good shape either way. Willow creek is fun stuff. I enjoy some of the darker patterns and it is always a guess what it is going to be inside the rough.
It is almost like your images are just stretching to fill a pre-determined size.

Nice jasper, and oh, those delicate little plumes.

Just want to get to the bottom of my stretched images. I take them on my iPhone then email them to my iPad. I have been emailing the image size as medium. This time I tried small...let’s see.
Techno whiz Mike ain’t!

Nope..still stretched..just smaller. Any ideas? I have posted a lot successfully before, just the odd one comes out super stretched as in wide.

irockhound - when you do your doublets, what grit do you grind the two pieces to before you epoxy them? That Bouquet is awesome!
Mike - I'm not iPhone or iPad literate, so I don't know why that's happening. I always resize my pictures to 600x800 and upload them and it works just fine. :dontknow:
Willow Creek is one of my favorites (pretty much along with all the other porcelain jaspers). Your cab is a beauty!

600 grit.
