Title: Alternatives to 3M Feathering Disc Adhesive
Post by: goldpelican on July 08, 2020, 11:59:54 AM
Are there any economical alternatives to 3M Feathering Disc Adhesive?

I need to attach thick felt pads to an 8" polishing head with a rubber backing, and in the thickness I'm looking at (1" thick) there's no self adhesive options in the market. I'm actually looking at using the following wheel as a pad:

This is for polishing Australian opals with cerium, and it's been recommended to use a 1" thick pad so that you can form grooves for better cab polishing.

The polishing head is this one from Kinsgley North:

You can get double stick tapr two inches wide.  I don't know how well it would work.

Someone just recommended 3M 77 MultiPurpose spray adhesive as an alternative - has anyone used that?

I've used 3m 77 for other things and it holds well, but I was told it might hold a bit too well. Haven't used it for the pads.
