Hi all... I recently acquired a beautiful Great Western 18” slab saw... for free!
The only thing it needs is a belt and oil (and weight for the feed).
Anyone know where I find a belt and what size, etc!?
Thanks!!!

Thanks! I look forward to being on here... after some time away from lapidary (due to having a baby, who is now 4) I am excited to getting back into things. hoping to get this machine up and running, and creating soon!!!

Take piece of rope and run it through the pulleys and measure the length it takes for the ends to touch. Then check the pulleys on the side to see if they have a number. The latter is to guide the person at the auto parts store on how wide of a belt you need. Its doubtful that anyone with a similar belt can tell you exactly what size you need because motors are mounted differently and pulleys are changed with use. You may have a belt idler that will allow you to adjust the tension in the belt so it probably does not have to be exact. Auto parts stores carry a wide array of belt sizes.

Some farm and tractor places, too.

Thank you! That sounds straight forward enough!
