Title: A nodule with red jasper-looking parts
Post by: R.U. Sirius on November 09, 2020, 01:35:43 PM
This is a thunderegg-like nodule of cream/brown colour on the outside, with curious red portions showing up in few spots, some of them orbicular with a pink/purple translucent central portions.

SG is ~2.6.

I ground off a small window that you can see wet in the second picture.

Does anyone recognize what this might be? Colours and the nodule form make me wonder if this might be a Willow Creek egg, but that's just wishful thinking on my part...

 Teepee Canyon SDakota?

Here it goes... quite an underwhelming agate-like interior, with some bright red inclusions. The colours do resemble the Teepee Canyon material, but there is no banding apparent in this section.

I think I'll just set it aside into the "maybe some day" pile.

Huh. It was deceptive. I expected something amazing inside.

Just bumping this up, as I noticed a similar-looking material advertised online as "Utah coprolite". Can anyone here explain how this could or could not be coprolite?
