I have a mystery rock with features that stump me. Attaching photos along with a request for ideas. I am in the middle of grinding a chunk and portions of it behave like petrified bone on the wheels. Other portions, well, I can't figure out what they are! Any ideas?
I will post a few more photos after this initial post to see if I can squeeze in more than 2 MB.

A few more pics to help.

Looks like some Sagenite - especially the sprays at the bottom in the first photo and upper part in the second photo.
Is there any lavender/purple coloration in it?

Definitely Sagenite. Looks very similar to Mexican Sagenite I have purchased. Sort of like this Mexican Sagenite But with All Gold vs White Sagenite centers but could be same locale

First - thanks for weighing in, much appreciated.
I am mostly finished with initial grind - here is what it is now looking like. The darker patch is what I thought looked (and behaved) similar to bone. The other texture I agreed looked maybe like a sagenite in rough, but takes on a different look in this piece. Maybe it is simply a sagentic portion of an otherwise not too interesting rock?

I love Sagenite and Plumes personally. I find Sagenite in all types of rough and sometimes you get lucky and it is sitting in a nice seam of gemmy clear agate other times it is in host rock that won't take a polish (the host). but still makes great specimens. I love the sphere and a nice looking Sagenite spray ring all around it just not up the center but who cares, ste that with the sprays aiming upwards and a beautiful sphere! You can always hope for high contrast but I take what I can get!!! Great job and wonderful sphere.
