[ You are not allowed to view attachments ] [ You are not allowed to view attachments ] Found at the local thrift store. I have tried to figure it out…very brittle and seems light for its size. Is it chrysocolla?

I am guessing pic three is moss agate?

Pick four was labeled Lepidote with albite.

That blue reminds me more of copper sulfate than chrysocolla.
Definitely a moss agate in the third shot.
Need a mineralogist - or a more knowledgable hound than me - for that last one.
-
That is nice lepidolite. Some of it turns brown when left in sunshine for long periods of time.
-
copper sulfate should dissolve right?
Thanks for the reply’s!!!
-
Yeah, I've bought copper sulfate in solid form, crushed it and dissolved it to make tree root killer.
-
OK, i have dropped a piece in boiling water and left it for a couple of days, and it doesn't dissolve
-
Excellent. Is it translucent?
That's an incredibly vivid blue, and the greens nearby indicate the colors are displaying pretty well on my monitor. Nice rock!
-
That's an amazingly intense blue... so much so that I wonder whether it might be slag. Are there any signs of bubbles? How translucent is it?
-
I'm thinking gem silica with that intense blue/green...
-
Gem silica is also what I was wondering about when I asked about translucency.
-
The edges are translucent green but the inside is pretty opaque…there’s bands that seem more clear and seem like they would be translucent

Here is a couple more photos

Penny for scale

That breaks like Turquoise. You may have come up very nicely there! I mean, even moreso than previously surmised!
-
Chrysocolla crumbles like that too. Looks too crumbly to cut an polish without stabilizing so it isn't gem silica but it does look to me like chrysocolla.
-
Thanks for the heads up!
-
The fracturing is also suggestive of opal. Owyhee blue opal?
-
Thanks everyone!! I have a hardness tester now so I will check it out with that and post again. Been distracted bought a huge lot of lapidary equipment and stones from a person downsizing so have been busy trying to make everything fit in my garage.
-
Congrats on the lot you picked up. That's the best way to expand, for sure.

By stabilizing do you mean glue to harder materials then cab? Or is there a treatment you do to the rock itself?

Thanks! Yeah it’s a lot of stuff and a lot to learn how to use …lol

Pretty sure it is chrysocolla did the wet finger test and it stuck to my finger thanks everyone for the help and input!!!
