And a bit of epidote that originally was feldspar

I found a ton of little bits of orbicular and poppy jasper on the coast of Washington during spring of this year, and it's definitely one of my favorite materials. That's a beautiful rock. Are you going to keep it as is or do something with it?

That's a really nice rock.
Got my attention when you slipped in the little factoid about Feldspar>Epidote.
Thanks.

Will not cut this one , not good for beads. The rock was metamorphosed at least 28 kilometers down in the subduction trench apparently which is the depth it typically has to reach to produce the transition to epidote. I assume you were at Rialto but this came from the Cascades mountains.

Good night!!!
That's one banger of a specimen. No good for beads- perfect for the flower bed border or shop shelf where it can still be cute as hell and seen often.
The epidote bleb is neat and a great teaching tool! It's great when the stone says it's story.
Once upon a time I had the chance to hound the South fork of the Skokomish out near Belfair and found material very akin to this.
Are jaspers very common around there? I seemed to be the only one who cared about the veritable rainbow of blotchy/orby jasper goodness just laying everywhere...

I have over a ton of jasper from there.

Damn.
I stand corrected- it was a trip to the Vance Creek RxR bridge. This was before the deck was partially removed, say, 2010 or so. Greens and teals, pinks and purples... You've got it made my man.

That rough might look nice in a sphere form!

Very nice looking specimen. Tumble polished by nature. I have to fight for mine with a sledge hammer and wedges. But I recently was given an old petrol engine driven carbide drill so I can drill and split it with the wedges. I found more specular hematite but this is very chatoyant. There’s orbs sitting out from the face of the stone. A first for my deposit.

I have a sphere of this that just barely fits in a 5 gallon bucket but it is packed away.

Well it’s show and tell. Please post a picture.
