I just want to share my latest carved chain necklace with a freeform carved opal. All lightning ridge material. 4 strand brade from leather and silver hardware. The chain is black potch.

This is truly amazing. No fractures got in your way in such a large piece of potch?
I'd like to know how the freeform is attached to the chain - looks like there is a knot in black cord, but what does it connect to? Is there a small piece of precious opal glued to the chain?

Thanks. The free form has a very thin black nylon cord. It goes through a hole in a small piece of opal that is glued to the chain. The cord was melted and pushed into a countersunk hole where it is glued on. There is a knob on the top of the free form opal, natural shape. Tied on.

You never cease to amaze me with your work. Kudos, Steve

Thanks for the great comments. I may try a jewellery carving with a chain attached if I can get motivated.
