I have looked for years for a jade like this and today I got one. It is very schistose but very hard and very stable. I have seen pictures of jade like this from New Zealand and have coveted a cut stone from similar jade and now that will happen . It is about 14 inches across.

Lovely. I'm almost as anxious to see the inside as you are.
-

I will be the first to admit to total ignorance when appropriate, and in this case, I am!! I find it so humorous, at my own expense, of course, since I am sharing this... When I look at that killer piece of jade there? I see a rock. Not even one I would risk stubbing a toe against. :Bash: and I get so tickled over the excitement! So I will admit, I too am looking forward to your slicing into it. I mean, surely the inside must be better? :glasses9: sigh... I'm so glad this forum includes educational goals, and I'm soooo glad you all can chuckle at/with me. I don't think I have ever even cut jade... :sad6: :sad3: :sad3:

I am eagerly awaiting the cutting open of this cobble... :headbang:

Frank has the most finely tuned jadar of anyone. I fully trust his judgement on this stone and can't wait to see it opened up!
-
Way to go Frank. If you find that you have way too much of that I would be glad to take some off your hands. Did I say that right? Not too forward, not too subtle, smooth as silk.

WOW that is just amazing Frank.
I wish I could be so lucky to find such killer material. :coffee2:

When I get my saw going later in the spring I will share.
-
Awesome~!!!
Is that what they call Pounamu?
-
All jade is as well as jade diopside hybrids which are very common in New Zealand as well as Washington state.
-
I hope you are going to slice it soon! Iceopal, no worries, one mans leaverite is another mans treasure. :D

Wow, I also can't wait to see what the inside of that lovely rock looks like! It's got so much pretty lighter green showing on the outside, the inside has to be beautiful!
