Hello,
This is my first post and after perusing the site a bit I have seen many beautiful stones and art pieces. This is a talented community and everyone seems so nice.
My lovely, sweet, and brilliant aunt helped me get started with this project. One Set of the gauges are from Labradorite and the other I forgot the name! But maybe someone around here knows what it is just by looking. Also both sets, even the square ones fit in my ears perfectly.
Also my aunt is Helene Fielder... Im so lucky and Proud!
Thanks Auntie :)

Oh right on! Those are very cool!
Welcome to the forum Johnny, it is really great to have you here, and thanks for showing us your ear gauges.
I am not sure about the material that is not labradorite... Helene, do you remember????? I don't think it's moss agate, I would almost venture to say gem silica but I'm really not sure about that either.
Someone here will know.

Welcome to the forums. Nice work on the gauges. I'd say gem silica is as good a guess as any based on the pics.

Very nice and welcome. Your aunt is one of my favorite people - lucky you!

Thanks for the kind words, Helene is one of my favorite people too.
I was fortunate enough to watch her work on stone polishing/grinding for a week straight, she had to be pulled away from her work/passion, her work ethic is comparable to her skill.. which makes sense with most polished(pun) skills.
Now I have the itch to work with stones.. I'm browsing the internet for some stones or stone shows near me in Tampa Florida.
Does anyone have some advise on a stone/gem that you think would be interesting as a gauge. For a man or woman.
Thanks!

Hematite? Bloody awful to cut, but would be cool as gauges.

First ones look like Chrysoprase.
Welcome to the forum, and happy cutting!

Oh yeah that would be totally awesome!!!
Any Jasper- it comes in so many colors and patterns. Kabamba would be way cool, rainforest jasper, kaleidescope jasper... So would ruby in zoisite or ruby in fuschite. Agates would be good- MOSS AGATE... OOOOOO Tiger's Iron!!!!! Welcome Johnny:)
I am looking forward to seeing your journey with making the gauges. I thought about it one time. Because there are so many interesting possibilities with the stones to use.
It is cool that you have your Aunt Helene to hang with and also for her to teach you stuff:)
