Figured I'd pick on something easy today after getting skunked at the old Disdero Robbins range dig so I spent the morning acting like a gopher and came up with this batch showing various shades of blue, I left a bunch of clear and so light of blue It wasn't worth packing out behind. I'm having second thoughts about one piece I left because I think if I convexed the back of a small cab I could get more blue out of it by reflecting the light back out the top. Oh well, it'll still be there for another time....

I just saw this on Facebook a few minutes before popping in here. Nice blue, I like! :icon_thumleft:

It will be fun figuring these pieces out. I love this stuff.

Thanks Frank and TTS, I posted it here first :) The botryoidal drusey one in the centre is a beauty and the big plate on the bottom right is over an inch thick and weighs close to a pound 1/2 so I think I've got a bit of material to work the bugs out; not that I want to waste any of this :) That square one in the centre is the palest blue but it is such a unique shape I had to take it.

Love me some blue agate!

I hear through the grapevine there is a place pretty close to you in OR that produces some pretty fine material too :)
-
Great haul! I am diggin' the square one too- that is a fun piece. The color is really nice, you done good.

Just love that material I got to get down that way one of these days. :coffee2:

Like I say Ernie, anytime you're down....
a piece of the blue I am working on, it is 25mm x 17mm and is the lightest of the blue pieces; such a delicate shade of blue; I've got to give some of this to a faceter, I know they would be a lot more brutal than I am.... now on to the resin wheels for a polish of some sort :) I know I'm not going to do the material justice.

I buffed it up as best I could with what I have; this is at 300 on the diamond resin wheels, thanks for looking, I guess I'm going to call this my slumped cushion cut....
Edited to correct; it is 3000 grit on the diamond resin wheels.....

Yup Gergis nailed it. :icon_thumleft:

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I really should have put this one on a stick though; that's why I called it a "slumped cushion" cut :)

Wow. Very nice material to work with. I love colour.
