Heading over to the blewett pass club claims today.
Hoping to find me some gold and a bunch of rocks to slice up also.
Mayhaps find some nice teanaway jade (jasper) rocks!
Even though it on blewett pass, its teanaway due to the Teanaway basalts, these boulders went in all directions when the basalts formed.
Sure hope i find a beauty today.
I do know where a huge boulder is, but i have no way of moving a rock that big.
-
Have a good time and don't get cooked over there, getting hot in places today.
-
Have fun Phish! :icon_thumleft:

Getting hot? We are at the end of very nice cool spell, I had to sleep under a sheet last night. Have a fun trip and find some cool rocks to cut up.

A good day . I also have found palm fossils and I also enjoyed it. Yours is very interesting as most Washington palm fossils are black as they are formed in phyllite , carbonaceous metamorphosed sediments. I have never seen one like yours and can only assume that it came out of the Swauk formation sandstones. Does it look as if it could be fine grained sandstone or just formed in the sandstone?
-
as far as i know, its clayish stone, like volcanic ash maybe.
It was on the north side towards Wenatchee before we turned left onto the old blewett highway from when christ walked the earth
-
Impressive fossil, the gold too but not as impressive as the fossil. :WEEEE:
-
I had the rock looked at by my geologist neighbor.
Its shale, its also (which were hidden in dirt) got other types of leaves in different layers.
-
I think there is another trip in your future to look for shale beds, a fossiling we shall go
-
Totally awesome Randy! :headbang:
I would make a nice display stand for that fossil!

thats not going to be too hard.
its blewett pass though, the Dept of Transportation wont let us do what we want to do, nor will mineral claim owners.
I think this came from the south slope of blewett or the top. since it was in the pile at the base near the salt shed which i have permission (since i haul the salt) to dig through.
-
When do you haul salt next? In the fall before the snow flies I suppose.
-
im lazy, im letting the other new drivers haul it. my spine cannot handle chaining up 4-5 times in a work shift.
I just go when the weather is better and before they doze the piles flat for next year.
Im going to stop memorial day and look through the one pile a little better.
