Definitely not Quartz.
Maybe tiny crystals of calcite or gypsum. I'm not 100% positive on that. If you have a local college or University with a geology department, take it there to see what it is because they will have the ability to analyze it far better than we can with pictures. |

Hi! Just introducing myself. I taught myself lapidary about 10 years ago, I've never taken a class, but I cut what I like and work on my skills as I go. I mainly cut turquoise and variscite, agate is lovely but gosh is it hard on the wheels compared to turquoise!

The peach colored pendants are Mexican calcite. The fractures are natural to the stone. Relatively soft stone so it doesn't take much to get a good polish (minimal heat).
