Graptolite marble sphere
« on: December 23, 2018, 03:09:25 PM »

Finished up a 5.0 inch sphere of fossil rich marble dating back to the Devonian period.  The fossils are graptolites; this rough came out of Central Mexico and from what I can gather formed when the deeper Pacific ocean beds containing the graptolites crumpled up against the west coast of what is now Latin America. I call this one old number 9 for obvious reasons.

That is cool.  I'm seeing a seahorse on the left side of the sphere in the first picture.
