repurposing pawn shop rings
« on: June 02, 2015, 08:23:19 PM »

while back when i first started lapidary, i had an itch to find ugly rings and repurpose them with stones i cabbed and polished myself.
Making them pretty.

Here was one of my first attempts.

This is the ring i am working with the day i purchased it with mother of pearl seashell in it that i am not too fond of.

how it sits now. i dont know how to push the edge of the ring towards the stone to flush it up with the opal, been trying brute force and the silver is not budging.

i finally got help from a jewler friend in setting the Opal i cabbed and hand polished.
this was my second opal, first one for this ring broke.
My absolute favorite is brazil opal with the purple sheet lightning flash in it.

What a fun idea to repurpose bland rings with popping stones.
