My good friend SteveE from Southern California has recently taken up lapidary in his retirement. I'm trying to get him to sign up here, so I thought I would post some of his work.

He traded some help to Quinn Street for a truckload of top notch Davis Creek Rainbow Obsidian. Crazy guy decided to use rainbow as his learning curve for lapidary art. I don't know of many stones that would be more difficult to master for a beginner, but I think Steve is on his way.

Good job. When I took the lapidary classes my instructor alway had the new students do obsidian, when you learn to get all the scratches out before going to the next grit and can get a good polish without any scratches showing. You can cut and polish just about anything.
 Obsidian is an outside , bright sunlight gem. So you can see the colors
