1st cuts on 1st saw
« on: December 19, 2016, 10:53:44 PM »

I joined the forum just last week, and after some great input from other members, bought my first slab saw today: A Lortone 12". I live just 10 minutes from the Canadian border, so I made a trip up to Mission B.C. and bought my saw from a rock shop owner there, who's personality was worth the price of admission.  I may curse them on the Interstate, but I gotta love my Canadian neighbors for their flare.

My first cuts were of a few beach rocks I had on hand and thought I'd share a few pics.  I'm saving my agate nodules until I get a feel for the machine.

The browns and greens compliment each other nicely, or so my interior designer says.

If I were in a pastry shop I'd order it.

Thanks for looking.
Cheers!

Nice slabs.  You'll love that saw, its one of the first slab saws I ever used at a club shop when I first started in lapidary.  And there is no shortage of entertaining personalities in this hobby!

Very nice!  And now starts the obsession of slabbing every rock you own just to see what it looks like inside!   :WEEEE:

The addiction/obsession commentary rings very true!  I'm already itemizing my bucket of rocks in terms of priority.  Who's first!

The holiday season has suddenly become a distraction, but yes, I will have to find time to spend with my family as well!
