Slabs from Nethers farm
« on: May 04, 2017, 11:27:52 AM »

Hi All

I finally had time to cut a few more slabs and this material blows my mind. I need a new blade and some time.

So for some eye candy.

Hi All

Two more slabs off the same rock front and back. This material continues to blow my mind.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Hi fossilman

Thanks for the input. First I want to cut some more slabs. I cut into a third rock and will post pics. I have never tried knapping but I dont think the grain will work. I would like to try to heat treat some of this but I have not found a 500 degree turkey roaster yet.

Do you have a heat treat set up? If you do and live in the US I would be willing to send you a few slabs for testing.

I live in Oregon, but try it yourself........Buy an old turkey roaster and a bag of sand from Lowes... Pretty simple to try out....
As for knapping, nothing is better than this flint...I have a few pieces in my collection, that friends have knapped for me and they liked working with the material....

Super Material! I visited last year and didn't find anything near as nice... but I couldn't do any major banging - just a detour from a business trip.
