Red Desert Flame Agate.
« on: July 03, 2017, 03:44:50 PM »

New material I've been mining. Red Desert Flame Agate. Not a true agate it is formed by chert replacement of Precambrian salt water sponge. Beautiful colors and great depth. Tends to have some pitting in a slab but there filled with druzy which is a nice touch. This material was one of the "New Finds" at Tucson in 2011 but not much has came on the market since.

Very nice!!!

Love the look in general and first and third slabs in particular. As a replacement of Precambrian sponge,  does that qualify it as a fossil???

Other than the pitting, is it about the came consistency throughout or some soft spots?

Cool stuff!

Striking material.  I love the colors, the patterns and, of course, the druzy!  I'm a sucker for druzy.   :icon_thumleft:

Very nice mix of color and pattern.  It would definitely make striking cabs for sure.  Grats on the find.
