This material is named after DeeDee Magri, from the Orcutt Mineral Club who first noticed it on Avila Beach and inquired enough to realize it is something a bit new to rockhounds.  I collected it during a rockhound scouting trip with Wes Lingerfelt also of the Orcutt club, in the same area of Avila Beach.  They call it a brecciated rhyolite, and add that it contains agate, chalcedony, white quartz and marcasite.  The obvious fractures are nicely filled in with chalcedony and it fluoresces under short wave light.

Always love the names they give to known material, The guy who started collecting Coquina off the beaches around Ventura and sold it as "Luckyite" in Quartzsite.  Love the Clear areas in the sphere, looks like it cuts great.
