Pictured are several previously made cabs or shaped flat blanks from material purchased or collected in the 60’s to early 70’s. A 2” x 2 1/2” Casa Grande cab from Mexico and several pieces are f
rom the Texas Big Bend/Marfa/Alpine area.

All stunning, but I think that top one with the banding takes the cake from that set, it's gorgeous and very well framed.

Very nice material. The banded one is a dead ringers for Botswana Agate and the one with red sagenite looks alot like that new Turkish stick agate. Very impressive.

That's an impressively strong blue compared to other examples of Casa Grande I found, what is with the speckles in it, pyrites?

The Casa Grande picture color is a good representation. This is a cab from a nodule purchased in the late 60"s from a large mixed rock pile that had material from Mexico and Texas. There are small spherules or inclusions that that are part of the makeup but I have no clue as to what they are. This is not what I normally collect or looking for at the time but I liked the design/color and made the cab after I sliced the rock.

Love that yellow on red pseudomorph piece.  Looks a wee bit like a Coyamito?

Ryaly2dogs, the pseudomorph piece was from Big Bend material. It was special because of a great spray and solid.
