flex shaft shroud
« on: March 01, 2016, 02:45:49 PM »

Today, i had an idea in my head.
seen a pill container in my drawer, had a vision and proceeded to create what i seen with it.
At the hardware store, a shroud that only fits on the main dremmel tool is $14+
well, here is a free one.

Used a cutoff wheel to cut the plastic into shape, a carbide cutting bit to hog out a hole so it fits over the hand piece and done.
Used my 80 mini drum, a grinding cupped disk, a sintered point in testing it, worked great!
And it was FREE!

I love light bulb moments that really work and this is a great one I will have to try. Thanks.

(If you don't mind my asking, what went wrong with the flex shaft? I haven't broken mine out of its package yet but will be soon.)

the button you push to loosen or tighten the tip ate a groove around the shaft.
I have to take it apart to loosen or tighten it now.

Im going to order a new shaft soon.

Nice hack Randy!  Necessity is the mother of invention.   :icon_sunny:
I'm in total agreement with the mindset of why pay $$$$$ for something if you can make it with materials already on hand for a fraction of the cost.
