Seattle mineral market
« on: May 23, 2016, 05:42:21 PM »

I went to the annual seattle mineral market this past weekend in north Seattle's lake city neighborhood. It slopped down rain hard all day but it certainly didn't stop the thousands of people from making their pilgrimage to Seattle's largest mineral specimen shop one stop. I did the show last year as a vender and it was super fun but I didn't make any sales(sucky!). There were a couple others selling jewelry neither of which I spoke last year, but now I am wondering how well they did at their booths cause they were both there again this year.. In any case I got there before the doors opened and got to cherry pick my way thru the couple of tables with lapidary rough only admiring a few of the crystal specimens along the way. (note I saw an amazing 15-20lb piece of youngite!! So awesome!) One guy from uruguay who brings up amethyst geodes from there had some rough with decent thick smokey/blueish seam agate under some of the quartz for a dollar a piece so I picked out 5 from him which I thought was a steal! One fellow whom I bought jade from last year was there again so I ended up buying a couple choice pieces of BC nephrite from him for a total of 80bucks. And a rockhound friend of mine from olympia sold me the tiny but rad agate slabs(I'm thinking of making earrings with them) and a super sweet thunderegg for 5bucks.

Aren't you glad you didn't come up to my place instead?

Umm Noooo!! And I think I'm gonna go camping this weekend and do some hounding with my buddy cashmere. I cant wait to see how those tumble jade beads and odd pendants turned out I'm in the edge if my seat but its gonna have to wait another week or so..
