On 'Top' after T-eggs
« on: May 09, 2016, 10:47:47 AM »

Spent about five hours yesterday wandering in circles up on the 'top,' a ridge of hills 4000+ elevation, looking for a less annoying place to get local thunder eggs.
I found it, long after my camera had died, but here's the view:

I found two promising locations; one I had known about but wanted to confirm and make sure it had enough material to take other people to, and the other was new to me and while its eggs were conglomerate, squished or broken, the pieces held a pleasant pink material that looks promising.

Some eggs from a place I didn't mark, as the broken ones were very unexciting and the whole ones were a bit... big.

Other things of note were a very old stone circle about ten feet across and maybe three feet high, of ambiguous origin, (which I tried to photograph but failed) and lots and lots of wild iris.

I'm pretty darn sure that pink/white is opal and it has a lovely shade pink to it!

I think you're right, Gergis.  And it is lovely.  I would love to cut a piece of that.  As usual, great pictures, Kaljaia!   :icon_sunny:
