New stones from today
« on: August 02, 2016, 11:39:26 PM »

I had a couple of these in my in-process trays and decided to get busy.  The Chrysocolla was some material I found at this last Quartzsite.  The guy had hit the vein a week before the show.  It went from Parrot Wing to great Chrysocolla to an almost Turquoise.  He was only charging 15 a lb but the were huge chunks - solid blue color was 3 1/2" tall and 3 to 4" wide vein.  Absolutely crazy material.  Also the Australians had finally gotten in a couple barrels of large Botswana's.

Now that's what you call a Baker's dozen, 13 sweet treats.

Gorgeous stones! Love the framing of the pattern with the palm root and the Botswana.

Thanks, I have been on a bit of a palm root kick lately and have found it very hard to find material.  Last Quartzsite I went through the show looking for some and pretty much came up dry.  I have some saved from locations I have collected and pick from that.  One of these days I'll find a good spot.  Last time I went out just for root I had a Mojave Green pop up in front of my knee just above the snake chaps in the extreme defensive position and set a very bad tone for that day's collecting.  The Botswana's are easy since the patterns in those are so strong.

i am greatly attracted to that stone canyon.
just something about it that draws me to it, breciated stone i think. Maybe because of my past being so cracked, broken and mended together again through devine intervention and time..
