Anyone here ever convert a 7" tile saw to use 8" lapidary blades
« on: December 21, 2015, 12:59:29 AM »

I was recently given a tile saw, but want more cutting height with it than the 1 3/8" you get with a 7" blade.
Has anyone here ever converted a 7" tile saw to use 8" lapidary blades?

thanks

depending on the saw type slide or drop.
it shouldnt be a big deal, if its a slide saw just be careful the larger blade doesnt hit the pan.

There will be more torque on the motor also so it may stress it if you get too much force into the blade. I assume you have to extend the slot in the table  and of course remember Randy's advice.

It has the blade coming Up thru the table.  Not on rails above the table.

so just mount it, if it clears the bottom of the pan you are golden.

If not, put some feet on the base and take a hammer to the bottom and round it out under the blade to make clearance = farm fix lol!
