 It sort of looks like the "Goldfield" Jade AKA Green Jasper. My cab should be reworked, needs a better polish.

It dose look a little like goldfield jade(jasper). I have been thinking about getting a couple of diamond polishing belts 14,000 and 50,000 and see if I can get a better polish.
Micheal Hoover, what is your solution.  Most jades I do ok on it's the Wyoming that gives me trouble sometimes.  Some of my problems I think is the way the slabs were cut. (I got 30lb of slabs for $25.00)  If you have a rock you can polish three sides on a corner to see which takes the best polish. Before slabbing

If you got 30 pounds of Wyoming jade slabs for $25 you made the deal of the century. Rough sells for $15 a pound and up, way up. I hope you got the real thing.

I have seen no difference above 3000 but on some pieces I have to use the dry pads with a very light touch to get a good shine. I have some BC and Washington stuff that I have no luck with at all. I use the diamond impregnated velcro pads and have both dry and wet.

Here is a picture, I cut the end off of a slab that I was planning on using on a knife for member of the local club. It is a dark green. you tell me what you think.
This friend that sold me the jade buys estate sales and was in Montana, Close to the Wyoming border, visiting family. He heard about a rock shop that had closed down and they were selling everything, the owner had passed away. He also sold me the same quainty of calif. jade slabs for $25.00.

1) I would drop back to 1200 and re-sand to get rid of the orange peel.
2) I would then scuff polish at 1200.
3) If the Jade polish somewhat at 1200 skip all the way up to 14000 and again scuff polish.

You MUST use very rapid 45 to 90 degree changes in the sanding direction to eliminate the orange peel and get the best shine.  Some Jade will not gloss polish so you get a clean orange peel free matt or suede finish.
