Made a Big One
« on: June 14, 2016, 10:15:09 PM »

I finally got back to some serious cab making. This one is a Brazilian Agate and it is 5-1/2" tall.

I see Buddha's hand in that one holding a glowing orb.
This cab certainly has a transcendant, other-worldly quality to it.  I love it.  :headbang:
I could see it in a large bead embroidery piece with glowing carnelian and amber.

Looks like a painting of a face by Picaso. Whatever it is, a fantastic cabochon for sure.

Had to look in to see what you would call a "big" one. That is a fantastic piece!

Wow! that is simply breath taking back lit.  A beautiful cab.  That negative circle almost reminds me of cutting thru a fire agate layer. It this stone it make a wonderful shape to accent.  Nice job!

Great job!! but I was wondering what you do with extra large cabs?  are they for display and your own enjoyment? or do you make any jewelry, it would make one big bolo.  It seams like years ago you would see old rockhounds wearing extra large bolo ties.

I make my large cabs for my own satisfaction and enjoyment as well as display them a various Central California gem and mineral shows. I have also entered them in competition at some of the shows.
I have made jewelry for some of my much smaller cabs.
