I want to go. If there is a field trip planned I want to get invited!  I would like to make a sphere out of it.

I thought the Stone Canyon collecting area was no longer open to the public; that is what the Ventura club members have been saying.  Location is up near Paso Robles, CA.  If it is open, I too would love to tag along, I just used up some of my last stash and it is hard to find sizable chunks.

I did a little research and the ranch was sold and the new owners have no interest in doing any fee digs
I bought a rock one time and I still have a lot of slabs left

I held 2 trips onto the ranches.  The collecting area was along the border of 2 ranches that were each about 24k acres.  The ranches are closed.  We were the first field trips in since the 70's and were also the last.  Problems are people sneak onto the ranches and the ranch manager we dealt with was an ex sheriff that had personally arrested 78 people the year prior to our trip trespassing to get the Jasper.  He lightened up after making 25 thousand dollars in one day having people carry away the Jasper.  I have tried contacting him over the years to arrange a third  trip but so far no luck.  The first trip I held there we had over 100 cars lined up to make the trip and one couple even had a uhaul trailer to carry as much as possible.  The material is on many of the ranches throughout the area along with many other types of cuttable stones.  Next time I go south I'll take a pic of the big piece I brought home.

Some great entry's, I have carved the mobius design in quite a few different styles, this time in a heart, a first in a heart I think, this is Aussie fine grain rhodonite,

WOW, all offerings are world-class.  Superb shapes and cant get much better when it comes to workmanship.

Month run out too quickly, so I only got a little offering. Don't know if it qualifies as I just sat down and started working it without taking pictures along the way, until the final shape appeared.
Anyhow, here it is. If it does not qualify, just dont include in voting.... :)

Squeaking in under the wire:

Mushroom Rhyolite.  Slab, preform and cab.  First outlined cab on the slab I managed to break while sawing it out, so I took the same shape and cut it out from the next part over.  Not nearly as cool looking as the first one would have been, but heck, beggars can't be choosers.
