Thank for sharing your trip pictures.  Looks like it was very profitable!  Looking forward to seeing some of those Montanas cabbed.

Looks like you got some nice cutting agate Greg.  I know you worked for it but what beautiful surroundings and the pleasure of picking a good agate cannot be described to anyone who is not a fellow addict

I've nearly finished "liberating" the Montana Bear from its nodule prison.  I'll post the final product soon.

Polished up pretty nice in the end.  Perfect for my wife's keepsake cabinet.

Oh, and I will admit to using a bit of Hyxtal on the face of the bear.  Just too many cracks in that zone.  The Hyxtal wicked in pretty well.

A few more I slabbed up in the last few days.  Do you see the seahorse in one of them?

Beautiful patterns in those slabs.  You really found some nice ones.

Beautiful material!  I love Montana agate and these look very lovely. That first piece looks to me like it wants to be a tiger, with those orange and black stripes! Guess you didn't happen to go to the area with the sapphires as well, or is it the same area, but they are much more scarce?

I actually have a question about iris agate myself. I  recently realized that a creamy white agate rock I had for years and a friend cut for me into thick slabs might be iris agate. It looked so boring, I never did anything with the slabs, but just looked again and realized that it looks like it may iris. Unfortunately, the thick slabs were cut as much as 8mm wide using a rough 10" blade, and now I think I will have to slice it by hand using my 4" saw as that has the thinnest blade (4" raytech blazer yellow blade) and I don't want to lose any more of it. My thought was to glue the thick slabs temporarily to something on either side, wood or another stone, and then slice down the middle by hand and see, but I'm not sure if that will work. Any advice/thoughts as to how thin the slabs must be?
