Washington black jade bead
« on: March 06, 2019, 10:01:17 AM »

This is our low grade black jade with lots of feldspar inclusions. The color is spot on. 45 mm long, 10 mm wide, 2.5 mm hole

I like the speckly feldspar inclusions.  Low grade, maybe, but it sure is pretty!

That a great bead...long hole to drill. Having never made a bead before, do you drill then put a rod or other in the hole to hold while grinding/polishing ?

I just hold them. This style is by far the hardest to get good symmetry and if the stone has grain as this one did it is much harder. A 60 grit soft wheel hakes the shaping easier as does a 600 grit hard wheel.
