My Social Isolation Project, what's your's
« on: March 31, 2020, 11:51:57 AM »

Well, time to start a positive posts only thread.   I purchased a 1960 Apache Step Side truck just days before the Virus got loose. I will be tearing every nut and bolt off this truck and taking every part down to bare metal. Hopefully I will have it torn apart, the virus will go away and I will be able to get out and get parts and have the motor rebuilt.
The truck has sat for 20 years in a wet swampy area so everything is rusted solid. Wish it was a Texas truck...…  But the body is straight and mostly solid. So, off with the bolts!!!!!

picture 1 is where I found the truck
picture 2 is after power washing
picture 3 is … well, the tear down has started

funny note;  I found this truck up in the hills on one of my bike rides. Guy parked this truck 15 years ago and never moved it.

I have been going to the desert and mines to dig. Just went again yesterday and had a great day.

I would think you could rock hound safely in many areas. Pack your own food and water. Only stop to get gas and pump it yourself while you pay at the pump. Should be able to stay a safe distance and wear gloves and or use sanitizer. Once you are in the hills it is freedom and clean air. I rarely see a soul at my mining areas in the Owyhee's.

Since I have to wear a mask, I may as well do something useful.

I'm changing the shocks on the travel trailer to HD gas ones. The trailer has seen more than a little gravel.

Great potential in that Apache truck.  What a nice find!

On those guitar picks, is the 4th pick an agate with tortoise shell features? Really striking look to it!

Yes, this comes from Luna New Mexico. I recently bought a couple of boxes of this very nice material.

Thanks,
Walt

oh how i miss my 1964 chevy stepside short box.
Not one bit of body rust except a tiny spot in the lower driver door corner.

That is great! Fountains like that, tucked away to be discovered in a garden, are wonderful to see. Is there some Japanese art influence?

Forgot t answer the question. I've set myself a project of: 2 bracelets, 2 pendants, 3 pairs of earrings, 2 rings, and one extra stone a good size for a pendant. Might as well make up that last small piece of the slab. Stay busy for a while.
