Good Morning and I hope this finds you well.

Our club has a 18" Loratone feed saw, a 14" Loratone drop saw ,a 10" trin/slab saw and a couple of 6" trim saws. They tell me the 14" vibrates. I changed the pivot bearing and didn't notice any problem with the arbor bearing, so I'm guessing it's the blade. Would a warped blade do that ? I had just finished the repair and set up of the clubs shop and COVID-19 more less shut it down.

A couple of ladies went in and cut some, they now owe the club $84.

We have a LS-14 Lortone drop saw here, too.

Even a slight bend or kink in your blade can defititely cause that. Gradual bends can be straightened pretty well just by pushing them back in line by hand. I've worked sharper kinks out with a 3 lb deadblow hammer.

A bent or misaligned arbor sheave (pulley) can also contribute to this.

Cheap lightweight packing around most bearings for the crossfeed don't help, either. I've been putting off replacing that cheap foam with a slightly heavier rubber. Soft enough to still absorb vibrations, but dense enough to provide more stability. Thought about it when I put the new bearings on for the crossfeed but I didn't want to wait longer to get it back together.

Oh yeah, make sure you're getting more oil to the blade than you think you need.

Just replaced the tubing from the cooler pump on our saw. Shortened the length of the larger OD tubing from the pump and added length to the smaller tubing from the reducer to the fitting on the spray shield.

The saw had the same tubing that was on it when we bought it nine years ago. Should have replaced it sooner. It puts so much more oil to the blade now that it cuts smoother and cooler. If your blade is heating up it will warp during cutting.

Interesting, I replaced my blade on a 14" Lortone, with an MK303 (which is the same blade that had been on the saw).  I am getting a rumble noise and vibration now and it sure appears the center hole is not centered.  Anyone experience off center holes on MK blades?

I had also repaired the pump on it. The simple impeller had came off. It had been in storage but at some point got loaned out. I guess it came back when the pump quit. chuckle.  That might have been when the blade warped.

With little in the way of shop fees, no summer tailgate, and little chance of a fall show, we will be hard pressed next year, so they will have to rest a hand on it . No chance of a new blade.

If mine gets warm it warps and vibrates all over the place. Raise it up, let it spin and cool a bit, then reset it down in the groove. And clean the basin and give it fresh oil.

Rustycat, make sure the hole is a good fit to the arbor size.  If so, rotate the blade using the pulley or belt an put something at the cutting edge.  That should tell you if it is not centered.  MK has very good quality control but no system is perfect.  I have no doubt they will make it right if there is a problem.

If the blade is using a spacer to reduce to arbor size make sure it hasn't dislocated or is loose.  An adapter like this can come loose while assembling and then the pressure on the blade causes the blade to shift off center.
