Derelict Mining equipment...
« on: November 09, 2020, 07:32:23 AM »

I like to see old equipment from the past, "in situ". It beats going to any mining museum. If there is a thread for this already, feel free to move this post.

Are those places you personally visited? Do you know what was mined there? Did you find anything gem-wise?

These are my personal photos from places I've visited, mostly copper\gold mines and prospects. All have been picked over for a hundred years, not much left. Some are in wilderness areas and off limits to collecting anyway.

Best,
Walt

Does coal mining count? This is in Nordegg, in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies.

One thing all the shots seem to have in common is them reminding me to keep my Tetanus shots up to date.  I have been out only a couple times with a friend and a metal detector, what I found amazing is you can be miles and miles from the nearest structure out in the middle of the desert and you get more bottle caps, pop tabs, old nails aluminum foil and other items.  Crazy how much junk there is out there.
