If that hole passes all the way through that bead you have some magical powers !.

With a bead that long do you first drill the hole into a larger piece of stone and then use the hole as a focal point to shape the bead around?  I can't imagine shaping such a bead and then trying to drill it.  Either way its pretty damn cool!

I grind the preform t exactly the size I want then drill it and go to the sanding wheels. I can still drill well but I shake from my spinal injury so have to incorporate the shaking into the drilling and it is more stressful but when I stop making beads it will be time to bury me , I am totally addicted.

It is extremely impressive that ANYONE can drill a bead that length and keep steady to go through it and keep it centered. I can't imagine how you can do that with an injury.

Practicing constantly for 30 years is the key.

It's a stunning bead, not just the shape and length but also the centering of the stone's pattern.
