Wide variety of cabs and a couple in question.
« on: May 14, 2022, 10:35:05 PM »

Hi everyone,  I felt energized and got out to the garage the last 2 days.  There is quite the mix here.  Ruby in Fuschite, Labradorite and I believe it is Chrysocolla but I am not an expert on the nuances of copper minerals.  The Utah Dendritic I found years ago in a shelf of material over 6" thick and just took some samples to see if it would cut.  The Varigated Tigerseye I am Very pleased with.  I saw the mirrored pattern in the slab and immediately saw the opportunity to get this design, fortunately it cooperated and turned out just perfect.  The pic of the Dino and Singleton are only processed up to the 1200 grit wheel but will finish off well.  Then there are the 2 (Dunno's) sorry i noticed the dunno 2 is a bit out of focus.  I bought this stuff out of a rockhound's yard in Oregon years back and no idea if it's turquoise or a Varascite or?  It has very pretty webbing though and polished up very nicely.  The last is a Singleton that I just went to the wheels with working out the shape there.  I decided to go with the natural edge on top for now.  I figure if I become disenchanted with it I can radius the top left edge and then do a negative radius up to the upper right creating a flame shape.  Can always remove more can't put it back.

That sure was a good couple of days!

Kudos on the Labradorite - that stuff frustrates me greatly.

Your Chrysocolla definitely is, along with 4-5 other minerals. Nice piece.

The "Spiderweb Dunno" could be Turquoise. If you have a small offcut chip to grind and mix with acid you could do a flame test for the presence of copper.
