Cave of the Mounds in Wisconsin
« on: May 17, 2022, 08:19:15 PM »

Cave of the Mounds located in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. I've known about the cave for a number of years from my husband, Bert. It was great, to have seen my husbands 2 aunts, Shirley and Mary again. Never the less bad timing, as we gathered for the loss of my father in law, Chuck Brechlers memorial service in Duck Creek Village. Anyway...I was delighted when they brought me a big chunk of a stalactite and some history behind it all.

On August 4, 1939 Carl P. Brechler, (my husbands grandfather) and Mr. Hanneman were the founders of this cave, which they stumbled on it by accident while doing some sort of construction work. Maybe some day Bert will take me to go see it, and meet other family members.

We plan to cut a couple thin slices on Thursday or Friday when I get a tray to capture water from my table saw. Is there anyone who resides in Blue Mound, (or close by), Wisconsin who has toured the cave? I'd love to hear from you guys!

Anyway I've posted some pix ... Enjoy,
Anita
